Are you satisfied?

A thought on living every day

Aug. 8, 2026

While doomscrolling, I ended up on a video of some guy talking. After watching it, I decided that this was going to be the last one. He was talking about the same old boring topic of living life to the fullest, and somehow this made me think.

I’m quite satisfied with the things I do throughout every day and I personally believe it’s impossible to live every day like it’s your last. But at least I can get something out of each day, even if it’s something small.

From there I ended up thinking about this kind of syndrome of the last few years, with people constantly talking about being left behind, AI, producing, and whatever the fuck else you want to call it.

I’m sick of people telling me that I’m behind with AI and that I could be doing things at work even faster. And then what? I’m already doing things pretty fast, and I actually enjoy most of them.

Can we please take back doing things simply because we enjoy them?

Why does everything have to be a source of income? Why can’t we just be spontaneous and have fun? Spend an evening riding bicycles with our friends like we are 16 again, then sit by the river and have a beer. A beer we bought from the supermarket. Nothing fancy, nothing to stress about.

It’s getting boring.

Let me do my side project and let it take four months simply because I like doing the research. What’s the point of finishing it in one week? So I can start another one, and then another one, and another one?

I want to bring back the pleasure of learning and just enjoying things. It’s so amazing.

Having everything doesn’t mean we are living life to the fullest. Those are two different things.

Wow, great, you finished your AI application, that’s great. If it can make you some money, even better. But why do we have to rush so much? Why can’t we just enjoy things and enjoy the journey? There is no end, just our death.

I think we are being pushed into thinking that we are never doing enough, and honestly, it kills me. Because in the end, everything is just fine.

Maybe we should just lower the threshold a little.
